Nintendo recently added the upcoming fighting game, Pokkén Tournament, to their list of games featuring amiibo compatibility. While this information shouldn’t come as a shock to many, since the first editions of the game were previously announced to include the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card, there is a tidbit of new information that is causing folks to scratch their heads.
The website states that Pokkén Tournament will be compatible with ALL amiibo. Currently, that is just about all of the information that the website provides. It also reinforces that the Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card will be bundled with all first edition physical copies of the creature based brawler.
The new amiibo card will allow players to automatically unlock the character in their game. What the website keeps secret is how all of the other amiibo will be used in the fighter.
Maybe the amiibo will allow players to unlock specific character costumes for their fighting Pokémon, or it could just a random item. All that fans can do now is speculate and hope for the best, but in the meantime they can keep catching as many amiibo as they can.
Pokkén Tournament will be released on the Nintendo Wii U on March 18th worldwide and is developed by Bandai Namco and Published by The Pokémon Company.
