Krystyne Escalambre

We had the opportunity to sit and talk to Krystyne Escalambre, aka GandaKris, about her passion in art, and amiibo. Before creating customs for amiibo, Krystyne was very involved in art at a young age. Art taught her a lot of different things, on planning, creating and working, but art has helped her overcome personal obstacles, and has helped her break out of her shell. Krystyne creates on average of 15 custom amiibo per day, rotating on each amiibo to help through the process of sculpting, painting and making. She currently resides in Nevada, but does visit California very often. If you’ve been following her Instagram or Twitter pages, you’ve probably seen her work.

Back in September, AmiiboAlerts held an auction for Child’s Play Charity featuring one of her most known custom amiibo dedicated to the Iwatadeceased President of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata. After the passing of Mr. Iwata in July, it became one of Krystyne’s most requested custom. She shared with us that it being her most requested custom, she felt that it would be dishonest of her to make money out of it therefore in respect to Mr. Iwata and her fans, she teamed up with AmiiboAlerts in giving all proceeds to Child’s Play. The team raised $1,900 dollars for charity, and received worldwide attention for this honorable work.

Krystyne is constantly releasing new customs on her shop, and sharing them on her social media accounts. Yet the question that we all have is where do all these ideas come from? Her answer is, People. Krystyne is not only a hard worker, but she is a humble and genuine person. Coming from small beginnings she’s been able to learn to love, and help anyone who is in need. Each custom she makes leaves a little piece of her, making it hard to let go, because each custom is like she says “one of her children”. Yet what keeps her motivated on completing, and sending them out is the feedback given by her fans.

Flash  Kyrystyne’s first custom was a Flash Pikachu crossover that she made for her boyfriend.

Krystyne is not only involved within the amiibo community, but also within the Smash Bros community as well. Something people don’t know about Krystyne is that she was considered to be one of the top Pikachu players in Brawl. Growing up she played many games including Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros Melee. Her favorite console up to date is the GameCube for it’s portability, and fun she had with many of the classics that came along with it.

The Smash Bros broadcast is on Tuesday, and we asked her to make a prediction on who’ll be coming to Smash. Krystyne feels as Shovel Knight could be a potential runner up alongside Midna from the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and possibly Linkle! She’d love to have Geno, Solid Snake or the Ice Climbers to be announced as future DLC. Along with the announcements being made during the broadcast, Krystyne is very excited for the Ryu amiibo and she can’t wait to make customs for it.

A typical day for Krystyne when she is not creating customs is a day off, hiking or playing outside. Krystyne and her boyfriend, Jay, love to plant or simply visit their local neighborhood as their hobby.

Krystyne’s resolutions for the upcoming year is to manage her time more efficiently, so she can work on more projects, and have time to create a YouTube series where she’ll be teaching others on how they can create their own custom amiibo. She’ll be helping us pick her favorite custom amiibo for Amiibo Spotlight this week. We wish Krystyne the best of luck with her future projects, and we can’t wait to see what 2016 has planned for her. Make sure to follow her on her Twitter & Instagram accounts.

Josue’s original goal was to purchase all his mains in Sm4sh, but once he fulfilled that goal, he couldn’t stop. Being a NIB (New-In-Box) collector, Josue keeps his amiibo in their original packaging and admires them from a far.
